Help Kids in Need Love to Read!
Make a Difference in the Life of a Child
Michelle's Fundraising Page A Project of Read to a Child
This is my second year as the School Coordinator at the Brophy School in Framingham. I love my job! I love the satisfaction of knowing that a mentor might help increase his or her child's enthusiasm for books and reading, provide English literacy support (including listening comprehension and vocabulary), and/or spend one-on-one time with a child who values the attention of a caring adult. Meeting any or all of these goals can only help the children on the road to finding success in school and, hopefully, life. I also love the opportunity to get to know the readers who make a difference in the lives of "my" children.
Read to a Child relies on support from donations and sponsors to carry out its mission, whether it be purchasing new books to keep our book cart fresh and full of diverse offerings, recruiting and training new mentors, or looking for opportunities to bring in new corporate sponsors from our community to increase our pool of readers (and offer special programs such as STEM and Financial Literacy); donations also help us carry out the day-to-day operations of making sure our mentors connect with the children, and with the resources to help them do so in a meaningful way.
Remember, no donation is too small. I thank you for your support!
"Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift." — Kate DiCamillo, author of Because of Winn Dixie, The Tale of Despereaux, Mercy Watson, and other fantastic kids' books
