Give Kids the Tools to Change the World!

Chris Thomas' Fundraising Page A Project of Read to a Child

Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues,

As most of you are aware I am very passionate about Read to a Child (www.readtoachild.org), a high-impact organization I was first exposed to as a volunteer while in grad school that is focused on building a love of literacy among underserved urban youth in the United States. Read to a Child is currently providing readers/mentors to children in five markets: Detroit, Boston, LA, Miami and Hartford. They need your support to both enlarge the number of children they serve in these locations as well as expand to other cities around the country.

As the past Chairman of this amazing organization, as a current members of our Detroit Advisory Board, and on behalf of all of the wonderful people that make up Read to a Child and serve these children, I'd like to ask you to join me in supporting our "Help Kids in Need Love to Read" campaign.

I'm making this ask for two core reasons:

1. 83% of 4th graders from low-income families are not proficient in reading. Volunteer reading mentors give their student partners the time, confidence and tools to reverse the cycle of illiteracy

2. This is an opportunity to help children in our communities in an incredibly transformational way

Please give what you're able and know that your donation will help support what I believe is one of the most important initiatives in the United States: ensuring that all of our children have a love and strong grasp of literacy.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might also want to donate!
